Michaels, Saddle River Officials Celebrate Grand Opening of the Borough's First Purpose-Built Affordable Housing Community
Saddle River, NJ, Mayor Albert J. Kurpis and Borough Councilman Christopher DiGirolamo recently joined executives from The Michaels Organization, as well as residents and other state leaders, to celebrate the grand opening of the Residences at Choctaw. Already fully occupied, the new community offers high-quality, affordable housing to Saddle River residents with low and moderate incomes. Read more here.
Michaels Celebrates Groundbreaking on Frist of-its-Kind Military Housing at Fort Irwin
Michaels, alongside U.S. Army officials, has broken ground for new military housing at the U.S. Army’s Fort Irwin installation in California. The new community, a first-of-its-kind development, will combine elements of military housing and student living to create a resort-style residential experience for single and junior-ranking service members. Housing Authority of Baltimore City and Development Partners Michaels and AHC Break Ground on Second Phase of Key's Pointe
Michaels recently joined Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott, the Housing Authority of Baltimore City (HABC) and development partner Affordable Homes & Communities Greater Baltimore (AHC), to break ground on the second phase of Key's Pointe, a $36 million affordable housing development in southeast Baltimore. The new community will bring 60 affordable apartment homes to Baltimore's Southeast side as part of the O'Donnell Heights Revitalization. Read more here.
The Hawai'i Housing and Finance Corporation Awards State and Federal Tax Credits to First Phase of Lewiwili Kapolei
The Hawaiʻi Housing Finance and Development Corporation (HHFDC) has awarded financing through its Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) Program to the first phase of Leiwili Kapolei, a new mixed-use, mixed-income community being developed by Michaels in partnership with ‘Ikenākea Development. The award marks a key milestone in advancing one of West Oʻahu’s most transformative affordable housing initiatives, and will bring two, five-story mid-rise buildings featuring 342 new rental apartment homes to the island. National, State, and Local Leaders Mark the Ten-Year Anniversary of Jordan Downs Development, Chart Final Phase
Michaels recently joined Jordan Downs residents, the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA), BRIDGE Housing, and Primestor alongside nearly 30 federal, state, and local leaders to commemorate a decade of revitalization at Jordan Downs. This milestone reflects $664 million in new investment, 787 affordable homes, 120,000 sq. ft. of retail, and four new parks, creating a more vibrant and resilient Watts community. Learn more here.

The Michaels Organization Educational Foundation has concluded a record-breaking year of fundraising for its Resident Scholarship program, thanks to direct private donations, its annual Golf Classic, and a $2 for $1 match for all donations contributed by our founder, Michael Levitt, and his wife, Pat. This year’s sold-out Golf Classic raised the highest amount ever in the Foundation’s history! Read more here.

Oliver Station Honored with Governor's Excellence in Housing Development Award
Oliver Station, Michaels’ newest affordable housing community in Camden, NJ’s Whitman Park Neighborhood, has been awarded the Governor’s Excellence in Housing Development Award, which recognizes exceptional projects that provide high-quality, affordable housing options. The community, which combines 47 affordable senior apartments with a Virtua Health medical practice, is the first in South Jersey and the second in the state to benefit from the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency’s (NJHMFA) Hospital Partnership Subsidy Program. Jonathan Lubonski Promoted to Executive Vice President
Michaels is pleased to announce the promotion of Jonathan Lubonski to Executive Vice President, Affordable Development. In this new role, Lubonski joins Michaels’ Senior Leadership Team and has primary oversight for all of Michaels’ affordable development. Most recently, Lubonski served as Senior Vice President, a role in which he spearheaded the implementation of new technologies and established policies and procedures that drive operational efficiencies for Michaels’ development teams and the organization as a whole.
