Michaels and Development Partners Break Ground on First Phase of Atlanta Civic Center
In partnership with Atlanta Housing, Sophy Companies, and Republic Properties, Michaels has broken ground on the first phase of the highly anticipated redevelopment of the historic 19-acre Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center site. Supported by $64 million in public and private financing, this first phase will deliver 148 affordable senior housing units on approximately one acre of the site. Read more here.
Michaels Achieves Successful Financial Closing on San Diego Community College District's Affordable Student Housing Project
Michaels has successfully achieved a financial closing on the San Diego Community College District’s first affordable student housing development, located on its San Diego City College campus. This transformative project, located in downtown San Diego, will provide 797 beds across 283 suites and apartment-style units. The new community will offer affordable rents, significantly below those of UC and CSU dormitory housing, making it more attainable for SDCCD students. Read more here.

The Michaels Organization Educational Foundation, a privately funded nonprofit affiliate of The Michaels Organization, has awarded a record-breaking total of $400,000 in academic scholarships to 182 residents living in student living housing communities owned and managed by Michaels throughout the country. This year’s student living awards bring the grand total of scholarships awarded to Michaels residents through The Michaels Organization Educational Foundation since 1991 to a collective $19,783,600 across all programs. This advisory group will play a key role in shaping the policy priorities of the incoming Sherrill-Caldwell Administration. Members will be asked to provide feedback to both the Transition Action Teams and Transition staff regarding the incoming Sherrill-Caldwell Administration’s policy priorities.
