Michaels Achieves Financial Closing on $88 Million Lumberyard Development

Michaels and its partners, Kyuden Urban Development America and Japan Overseas Infrastructure Investment Corporation for Transport & Urban Development (JOIN), are poised to break ground on a new multifamily housing community featuring ground-floor commercial space in Davis, California, following a successful financial closing. The $88 million development, The Lumberyard, will rise on the former site of Hibbert’s Lumberyard and Hardware Store in downtown Davis. The five-story mid-rise will offer 239 apartments along with a variety of high-end amenities. Read more here.

The Michaels Organization Acquires Weyant Green Apartments

Michaels has acquired Weyant Green Apartments, a 51-unit affordable community in Highland Falls, New York, sitting along the corridor serving the United States Military Academy at West Point, roughly 54 miles north of New York City. Forty of the property's 51 apartment homes carry a senior housing designation, with the remaining homes serving families; every resident household is protected from market rent pressure by a Project-Based Section 8 contract. Michaels' Croft Mill Development Receives Preliminary and Final Site Plan Approval

Croft Mill in Camden, NJ's Waterfront South neighborhood has officially received Preliminary and Final Site Plan Approval from the Camden City Zoning Board. The proposed 64-unit, $32 million development will transform the site of a former mill into a mix of townhomes and a four-story mixed-use building. Croft Mill is in partnership with the nonprofit Heart of Camden, whose longstanding commitment to the community continues to make developments like this possible.

Michaels Partners with Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority to Celebrate Opening of Beals-Henderson Pointe

Michaels and the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority recently celebrated a grand opening ceremony of Beals-Henderson Pointe, a new affordable housing community in Las Vegas serving households earning between 30 and 80 percent of the Area Median Income. Already fully occupied, Beals-Henderson Pointe spans more than five acres and includes 80 apartments with an array of community amenities. Read more here.

The Michaels Organization Celebrates 101 Students Who Received Lifting Lives in Camden Scholarship Awards Totaling $250,000

Earlier this month, Michaels celebrated 101 high school graduates in Camden, NJ, who were awarded scholarships through the Lifting Lives in Camden Scholarship Program. Offered for the first time this year in partnership with the Camden Education Fund, the program drew applications from all 10 public high schools across the city, and in total, awarded $250,000. Michaels CEO John J. O’Donnell spearheaded the creation of the scholarship program for high school students throughout Camden, as a unique opportunity to give back to the city and contribute to the Camden Rising initiative.
