The Michaels Organization Celebrates John J. O'Donnell's Return as CEO

The Michaels Organization has announced the return of John J. O’Donnell as its Chief Executive Officer, following a voluntary leave of absence that began in June 2024. With his return, Mark Morgan, who had served as interim CEO, has been named President of The Michaels Organization.

Michaels, Camden County Board of Commissioners Celebrate Grand Opening of Victory Commons in Voorhees

Michaels, alongside the Camden County Board of Commissioners and Voorhees Mayor Michael Mignonana, celebrated the grand opening of Victory Commons, a $30 million, 81-unit affordable housing community. Units are income-restricted to households earning 60% or less of the Area Median Income, and feature one-, two-, and three-bedroom floorplans, ample parking, a clubhouse, and additional community amenities. Michaels, Philadelphia Housing Authority Celebrate Grand Opening of New and Preserved Affordable Housing in Sharswood

Earlier this month, Michaels joined the Philadelphia Housing Authority to celebrate the expansion of affordable housing in Philadelphia’s Sharswood neighborhood. The new 43-unit community, Harlan Sharswood Townhouses, was developed simultaneously with the rehabilitation and modernization of the original 71-unit Sharswood Townhouses, which Michaels developed in 2000. Both efforts are part of the PHA Sharswood Blumberg Choice Neighborhoods Transformation Plan. Read more here.

Michaels Joins City of Rahway for Esterbrook Senior Groundbreaking

Mayor Raymond A. Giacobbe, the Rahway City Council, and their development partners gathered on April 14, 2026, to officially break ground on Esterbrook Senior Housing, marking a major milestone in the City’s ongoing commitment to expanding affordable housing for senior residents. The development will feature 58 modern, ADA-compliant units with amenities including a community room, fitness room, and on-site social service and health office. Michaels is serving as development consultant for Esterbrook Senior Residences, and will also provide property management services for the community. Read more here.

Michaels and Army Officials Celebrate Groundbreaking of Young Village at Fort Belvoir

Joined by U.S. Army officials, Michaels recently celebrated the groundbreaking of Young Village, a new neighborhood coming to Fort Belvoir, VA, featuring 200 new townhomes for Army officer housing. The new community will feature three- and four-bedroom layouts in spacious 2,500+ square-foot homes, with an emphasis on comfort and functionality. Each home will offer high-quality finishes throughout, beautifully appointed kitchens, and outdoor balconies, and have access to an array of community amenities. Read more here.

Michaels Breaks Ground on Historic Atlanta Civic Center Redvelopment

In partnership with Atlanta Housing, Sophy Companies, and Republic Properties, Michaels has broken ground on the first phase of the highly anticipated redevelopment of the historic 19-acre Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center site. Supported by $64 million in public and private financing, this first phase will deliver 148 affordable senior housing units on approximately one acre of the site. Michaels' Executive Vice President of Development, Jonathan Lubonski, has been named a 2026 Leader in Real Estate Construction and Design by NJBIZ. As Executive Vice President of Development, Jonathan oversees The Michaels Organization’s nationwide affordable housing development operations.

Oliver Station Named NJBIZ Leader in Real Estate, Construction, and Design: Top Project

Oliver Station, a transformative mixed-use community in Camden’s Whitman Park neighborhood, has been named a Top Project by the NJBIZ Leaders in Real Estate, Construction, and Design awards. Oliver Station integrates affordable senior apartments with on-site healthcare services. The $24 million community features 47 affordable apartments for residents ages 55 and older and a Virtua Health medical practice on the ground floor.

Design Develop Construct Journal: Housing the Force

The Michaels Organization is bringing resort-style living to junior unaccompanied service members at the U.S. Army’s Fort Irwin installation in California. The new development will feature two-bedroom, two-bathroom units with shared kitchens and community amenities.
